Seating and Greeting

Hello to our Pink Flamingo followers!

For some brides and grooms, where to seat  guests can make the thought of the wedding day a bit of a worry...have no fear, here we will give you a few pointers on how to make your day work for you.

There are different types of table format, which will set the tone of your day, most of the feel of the day will be defined by the style of your top table.

1- The traditional top table: the traditional top table is a long table that surveys the rest of the room with an order that follows left to right; Brides Mother, Brides Father, Bride, Groom, Grooms Mother, Father of the groom; bridesmaids and groomsmen may be included at both ends dependant on the number of places.

2- A non-traditional top table: a table that matches the shape of the rest of the tables in the room which seats all brides and grooms parents, bridesmaids and best-men.

Another  element to consider is the shape of your tables, they may effect your theme and also the way your guests can chat.

3- Round tables are perfect for chatting across the table, they have a feel of sophistication and lend themselves perfectly to table service.

4-Long tables are perfect for a more informal couple, they are perfect for food sharing and will automatically make everyone at feel relaxed.

Happy seating and greeting everyone!

Gran Can't Get To Your Wedding?

Friends and relatives abroad,  Gran has a bad leg and won't be able to attend your special day or worried that everyone won't be able to come to your exotic destination wedding!

Don't worry you can still have everyone present on your big day with some pretty funky and easy to use technology.

An easy way is to get a techy friend to sign-up for skype premium and stream the ceremony live to your absent loved ones from a laptop or ipad. Skype premium allows more than one person to view at the same time.

If you want a more reliable service than Skype (we've all had those calls drop out inconveniently) then you may want to try Livestream. This super sexy service allows you to show your ceremony and reception live to everyone you invite, and amazingly it can be embedded onto your facebook page to make it easy for all to see. A bit more expensive but worth the extra cost for peace of mind.

So worry over, another great idea from The Pink Famingo Wedding & Event Company.

Your Symbol of Eternity

Your wedding  ring is the most recognisable symbol that you have become husband and wife. To feel it on your finger will remind you of the love that you share, even when you are apart.

The wedding ring dates back to the ancient Egyptians of around 4,800 years ago, when the first rings were braided from rushes and reeds from the river Nile. The Egyptians believed the ring, shaped in a circle, stood as the symbol for eternity. Like time, it had no beginning and no end. They also believed that the space inside the ring symbolised a gateway, or door, leading to things and events both known and unknown.

They wore it like we do today on the third finger of the left hand because of a belief that the vein of that finger directly travelled to the heart. This legend was later taken up by the Greeks, then passed onto the Romans, who called this the 'vena amoris' which is Latin for the 'the vein of love'.

This may or not be a myth, but for romantics all over the world young or old, this is the reason they will always wear their wedding ring on their fourth finger of their left hand.

The Week Before Your Very Special Day...

The week before your very special day should ,with the help of your wonderful wedding planner from The Pink Flamingo Wedding Company, be a time to feel relaxed and in control. If you are at home or in Portugal for your big day it’s time to think about you…and only you.

Do’s

Do make sure you are getting plenty of sleep, fresh air and gentle exercise so your body feels healthy  and  toned.
Do take a warm Epsom salt bath 3 days before your wedding day, the salt will draw out any excess water.
Do enjoy a light diet full of protein, fresh fruit and vegetable so your skin will glow and your hair will shine.
Do drink plenty of water so you feel hydrated.
Do have a small amount of alcohol so you don’t fall over after the first glass on your wedding day!

Don'ts

Don’t take up a new sport or strenuous exercise routine to lose a few extra pounds, you                don’t want to be limping down the aisle.
Don’t lie in the sun and get sunburnt, strap marks never look good on the photographs.
Don’t eat spicy food or change your diet, flatulence never ever sounds pretty!
Don’t drink carbonated drinks or you will feel and look bloated.
Don’t drink lots of alcohol the night before or you will feel dehydrated on the day.

Finally…enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Romantic Native American Wedding Blessing

This romantic and moving blessing was read during the ceremony of a beautiful wedding we planned in Lisbon for a really special couple. We really love what we do and it was truly wonderful to play a part in such a lovely day.
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be the shelter for each other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be the warmth for the other. Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before.
Go now to your dwelling place to enter into the days of your life together. And may your days be good and long upon the earth. Treat yourselves and each other with respect, and remind yourselves often of what brought you together.
Give the highest priority to the tenderness, gentleness and kindness that your connection deserves. When frustration, difficulty and fear assail your relationship - as they threaten all relationships at one time or another - remember to focus on what is right between you, not only the part which seems wrong. In this way, you can ride out the storms when clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives - remembering that even if you lose sight of it for a moment, the sun is still there.
And if each of you takes responsibility for the quality of your life together, it will be marked by abundance and delight.
